ART+TEA GATHERING OCT 20 2018

Tea Table Inspiration

The Crimson Frosty Leaves 賞葉紅霜夜

Oct 20 in Chinese solar terms means the coming of Shuang Jiang (霜降) - first frost in English. Around the time of Shuang Jiang (霜降), the temperature difference between day and night becomes much greater. We still feel the warm of Autumn, but more and more we start to feel the coming of Winter.

The leaves turn red and gold. There is one Chinese poem that says the frosty leaves in Autumn are just as crimson as the flowers in February. While most of flowers lose their colors, camellia flowers start to bloom. We brought some of them from Yun Nan, China to share with you. Also, Oolong tea becomes very tasty; we love that it is fresh and honey-sweet at the same time. Naturally we just want something cool to let go of the heat from Autumn and something warm to protect us from the cold of coming winter.
